Projects, 2014 to today.

Six years at Hipcamp, the camping marketplace that absorbed Youcamp in 2020. I worked across the stack: Rails monolith one day, a Next.js landing-page experiment the next.

Youcamp was Australia’s camping marketplace. Landowners listed their paddocks for campers to book. I joined as the sole engineer on a four-person team in 2017 and was the lead until the Hipcamp acquisition completed in 2020.

Side build: a workbook ordering platform for training facilitators. Pick modules, generate a personalised PDF/PPT workbook, and pay per learner. Stripe + Laravel + a small dose of PDF-rendering pain.

Small studio on the NSW South Coast where I started. Custom PHP CMS (we wrote our own), small business sites, the occasional e-commerce build, and the slowly-improving instinct for what holds up in production.

My first marketplace, built in 2014, before Facebook Marketplace was a thing. A small community board for buying, swapping and selling locally. Looking back, this is where the marketplace pattern got into my head and never really left.
