Witnessing the exponential growth of the team from 40 to 120 employees, my time at Hipcamp was marked by collective efforts that facilitated more camper nights each year. Our shared dedication to excellence propelled Hipcamp to new heights in the realm of outdoor adventures.

Internationalisation and localisation

At the forefront of my contributions was the setup of internationalisation and localization, fostering a global community of outdoor enthusiasts. This initiative laid the foundation for Hipcamp's expansion into diverse regions, connecting people with unique camping experiences worldwide.

Fun projects I was involved in

Noteworthy initiatives included improvements of the /host landing page, location discovery pages, and the introduction of host performance insights and achievement badges, all designed to enrich user engagement and empower hosts. Additionally, my contributions extended to the migration of high-value SEO pages to a Next.js frontend, enhancing performance and user satisfaction. Beyond routine tasks, I took pride in crafting innovative pages for special events like the solar eclipses of 2023 and 2024, an interactive map for fall foliage enthusiasts, and a much-loved farm camping filter, elevating the platform's appeal and helping visitors find more unique camping opportunities.

This marked the beginning of a transformative journey, where I played a pivotal role in steering the technical evolution of the platform through crucial phases, adapting swiftly to challenges and contributing significantly to the company's growth.

Resilience

As the impact of COVID-19 reverberated globally in March 2020, I acted quickly and decisively to introduce the CampCash feature. This innovative solution provided users with credit for cancelled bookings, showcasing a commitment to empathy and adaptability during challenging times.

Migration to Hipcamp

Simultaneously, amid the pandemic's uncertainty, preparations were underway for a significant migration. In 2020, the team successfully navigated the migration to the Hipcamp global platform by August, seamlessly integrating Youcamp into the larger ecosystem.

Crafted from the ground up

This app is not just another marketplace project; it's a bespoke creation built from the ground up. Every line of code, every feature, and every user interface element has been meticulously crafted to provide a seamless and user-friendly experience for training facilitators.

Collaborating with a skilled designer, we tailored solutions to meet the specific needs of diverse enterprises. From boosting web presence and providing information to driving sales and increasing lead generation via contact forms, every design encapsulates a unique strategy for business success.

Custom PHP Framework

Recognizing the need for efficient content management, we pioneered the development of a custom PHP framework. This framework empowered our clients to manage their website content seamlessly. My contribution, a substantial amount of code, reflects a commitment to technical prowess and innovation.

E-commerce Applications

We built several custom websites integrated with Braintree Payments. We seamlessly blended functionality, design, and payment processing for an enhanced user experience. This extension seamlessly integrated e-commerce solutions into our custom PHP framework. It ensured a cohesive experience for all businesses.

Long before the prominence of Facebook Marketplace, this platform served as a community hub for locals to seamlessly buy, trade, or sell products.
